Is It Cocktail Hour Yet?

Since I am still actively in my phase of obsessing about my hair I must post this cool article - Is your hair healthy? Usually those sort of articles are so generic and don’t give any additional info that you haven’t heard before. This article explains different techniques you can do to see how healthy your hair is such as the sink or float test. I think my hair is somewhat healthy but it is just dry. It has always been dry and coarse - fun fun! I am now really focusing on moisturizing it by deep conditioning twice a week and applying oil nightly. I bought Doo Gro Stimulating Growth Oil and I really like it. I use it at night before going to bed and after I wash my hair in the morning. I let my hair air dry to about 50% (or as long as I can depending on time) then apply a small amount before styling. This really has gotten rid of alot of the coarseness. You find this product in the African American section. I got mine at Rite Aid.

In my search for fabric for new curtains for my house I came across a very clever site that sells fabric but it gets even better. They have something called a Vote Up Count Down Sale. This is a very clever idea - you vote on your favorite fabric and the fabric with the most votes starts a count down on the price. Every second the price goes down until someone buys it. When a fabric that you voted on goes into ‘countdown’ mode you get an email telling you that it is in countdown mode so you can keep an eye on your fabric. There are some gorgeous discount velvet upholstery fabric that would be awesome in my house.

I found a truly excellent site for hairstyle pictures which is called UK Hairdressers. There are so many very cool and trendy hairstyles. You can also save your hairstyles without having to register. Here is one of my favorites. I haven’t gotten through all the styles yet because there are a ton! Enjoy!

I was going through my closet yesterday and I have no clothes at all. I hate to shop also so that doesn’t help. Some of my clothes look like tactical police gear from when I used to work in an office environment. I’ve never been too fashion savvy so I am pretty desperate for help!

My husband just loves Dave Chappelle and watches reruns everynight. He spent about 2 weeks singing I Wanna Piss on You (R. Kelly spoof) which drove me nuts. This is so freaking funny. Have a great weekend! Enjoy!

My husband and I have become addicted to watching the TV show Housewives of New York City. I thought it would be interesting after watching Orange County series and since we live in New Jersey I thought it would show the differences in the coasts which I think are vast. Chris’ brother lives in NYC and we go there occasionally. I used to go into NY when I was younger but I don’t go often now. The thing that struck me about the housewives are the car services. They can just call a car service and take limo service Brooklyn if they are so inclined. Dial 7 is a car service in NY and the rates don’t seem that incredibly expensive and the cars look really nice.

Traveling in NYC can just be a nightmare. I actually have dared to drive there when I was younger and me being from NJ you can make a right on a red light. Well I went to do that in NYC when I was about 21 and people started hitting the car. OOPS!! No more driving in NYC for me - that was the last time.

I was very excited to learn today that Alanis Morissette will be releasing her new album FLAVORS OF ENTANGLEMENT on June 10 (in the US). I found this info on her Myspace page. I recently got into her music from my husband. He loves her music and lyrics. She has such a spiritual touch to her art.

My brother-in-law started a new job last summer. He ends up working from home most days of the week which is awesome! There is a catch though. He has to travel to Washington, DC quite often. At least 1 week out of each month! Since we are in NJ this is at least a 3 hour drive so he normally takes the train. Also when he goes my sister is left alone with all 4 kids. That is not an easy feat!

He stays in a hotel each time he goes and that involves eating out every meal and icky hotel beds. Most hotel beds are so uncomfortable in my opinion. I found a site that has business housing accommodations for various situations. The site is very professional and explains the details. If you need housing for months or just days they will accommodate your needs.

After my entire viewing the Shear Genius first season I moved onto High School Confidential. This is a documentary series covering the 4 years of high school for various girls in Kansas. As a mother of a 10 year old girl this show was quite disturbing. 3 of the girls ended up pregnant and about all of them drink - quite heavily too. This is a very interesting show so I would recommend taking a look at it. You have to set aside your own versions of what is right and what is wrong. I don’t think judging these kids is what it is about. It is a very real view of what girls go through in today’s high schools. Very scary .. I hope I survive my daughter’s teen years!!

As I spent the day watching TV all day yesterday I must have watched over 100 commercials. As I flipped through the channels I ran across a bunch of infomercials. The interesting thing is that there were a bunch of small local companies running commercials. I would think that would be terribly expensive but I bet the payoffs are huge. There are television marketing companies available to help local small business produce and acquire television commercial time. To be honest there were some very good infomercials on yesterday. I was very tempted to purchase a few things but luckily I resisted. I don’t want my husband to divorce me due to my spending habits!
